If used correctly, OC (original character) would have provided a safe artistic outlet in social media for children but only with the parents' supervision. Parents must enforce checking what children post and remind little kids and teenagers from reading or writing anything about their own personal identities in their OCs. They should also know the audience for which they are writing and how to use the privacy settings successfully. Educating them about the dangers that come with it will further improve online safety. Under such supervision, OC can become a safe tool for children to express themselves and socialize in a digital world without, at the same time, sharing their private lives.
